  • Capturing Video using PP2

I have just started using PP2 and only a moment ago attempted to capture my first lot of footage from my Sony HDR-FX1. I connected the iLINK cable to the PC and then to my camera and was prompted to capture using PP2. I clicked on that and the capture screen opened, but would not let me record. All it says is “Cannot activate recorder, try resetting camera”. The computer is definately linked to the camera as I can still play/rewind/ffd etc using the computer, however the image does not come up on the screen and I cannot record. I tried switching the camera on and off, resetting the computer, did a full reset of the camera and still nothing. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a fault with my camera or PP2?

Go to Project > Project Settings > Capture and make sure that Capture Format matches the video format you want to capture.

Just tried that now, and it was already set on the right settings.

Here are some more tips: Can’t activate recorder. Try resetting the camera.

I am having the same exact problem with my Sony Z1U.

I have not figqured out how to get the capture deck to work. My deck is black, yet the controls work, like in your case, and I keep getting reset the camera message. Maybe there is a major software interface problem here.

I’m currently using PP2 and the Sony Z1, and I’m having no problems at all. What are your settings in PP2? I’ll compare them to what I’m doing and maybe we’ll find a problem.

I have actually uninstalled PP2, re-installed PP1.5 which I have been using for the last 6 months, and I am having the same problem.

The only other thing that I changed at the time of upgrading to PP2 was I also upgraded windows to XP SP2 as PP2 is not compatible with SP1. Is it possible that my capture card is not compatible wih XP SP2?
