A capture card really isn’t necessary for capturing DV/HDV footage. All you’ll need is a firewire port and cable. Sounds like you have a conflict in settings with premiere and your camera. Just make sure you have the right presets and the right device control.

I just found a solution in Adobe’s forum: Create a new User Account with administrative privileges in Windows and capturing should work again. Even if your old User Account have administrative privileges creating a new one is worth trying. 🙂

Dont forget to log into the new account!

I have figured it out! It seems that for some reason my external sound card and its drivers were clashing with PP2. So I formatted my PC, turned on my on-board sound card in the bios, re-installed XP SP2 and all the standard essential drivers, then just installed PP2, and it all works perfectly.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to re-install my external sound card so I can start using Pro Tools again.

    Any ideas?

Thanks to everyone for upir help so far…

First disable the onboard sound card in the BIOS of your system. Then reboot and install your PCI soundcard in a free PCI slot on the motherboard. Finally, install the drivers supplied by the manufacturer of this souncard for this particular device.
