Capturing Question
I’m relatively new to FCP and have the following question:
On a MacBook Pro (2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, OS 10.4.7), I’m capturing loads of HDV footage to an external LaCie Drive. I’m using the, “Now” button to capture complete tapes. The timecode on these tapes is continuous (ie: no breaks in the TC) but by default, everytime a scene changes to a new take, FCP creates a new file. Is there anyway to just capture the entire tape – complete with scene changes – to one single file? Or, no, the only way to do it is with FCP creating new files everytime there is a new scene/take?

In the log and capture window in the Clip Settings panel there is a checkbox that you can uncheck to it make stop doing it. It works for some HDV devices, not all.

Since I don’t see that option in the “Clip Settings” panel, I’m guessing that the Sony HVR-Z1U is one of the output devices with which won’t allow me to do it….?
