    Hello,

I am working on FCP 6. This problem is really out of the blue.

I logged video from my Canon Alura 65 handheld miniDV camera. I tried to capture the footage and it froze about 30 seconds into the capture. After that happended. The log and capture window was displaying color bars with a black bar and white letter that read “Preview Disabled”. Approx. 4 hours later it started working.

I tried to capture again. I have about 6 clips. I tried capturing all at once and one at a time. It just freezes after 30 seconds.

I did receive a message that said there was no video available.

I turned off my computer at least 15 times. I reset my preferences. I tried capturing on 3 different cameras, I relogged the same footage and I am still having the same problem.

HELP PLEASE. I am working on a very tight deadline.

    Thank you in advance!

That’s a consumer camera, not sure you can perform a Log and then Capture. You probably have to use Capture Now.

Does that camera have Firewire output or USB? If it’s USB, that is going to be a big problem as FCP does not support USB cameras to my knowledge.

What media array are you capturing to?

All I can think of are the usual suspects.

Did you add another FW device to your computer recently?

Zap the PRAM and Repair Disc Permissions are two things certainly to try.

    Hi Walter,

Thanks for getting back to me. It does have firewire output. I use this camera all the time. Capturing from miniDV to Final Cut Pro. This problem just popped up out of no where.

I did add another hard drive.

    I will try those suggestions.

    Thanx
