I purchased the Blackmagic DeckLink a few years ago and everythings been great. I have been updating all the new software as time goes on. For some reason lately when capturing to Final Cut Pro in 8bit HD it starts out smooth and then about a minute in it freezes for a second and then it continues. I’m working on FCP 5.1 and I’m capturing to a 2TB xserve. I have version 5.7.1 because my G5 is not intel based. I tried reinstalling, but that didn’t work. I’m not sure if it’s the capture card or my G5, or something else. Thanks

    Hi Zach,

You can narrow down the issue by capturing DVCPRO HD to your internal drive or a firewire drive. If that is ok, then it’s most likely an issue with the Xserve RAID or the RAID host adapter.

You can also try capturing with Blackmagic Deck Control instead of Final Cut Pro to rule out any issues with Final Cut Pro.

    What specific card is this?

Can you also tell me what happens to the resulting capture file especially when the capture “freezes”?

    regards
