Use the “Easy Setup” for PAL DV to make sure the settings are correct, and also make sure that the video is checked on in the Clip settings of the log and capture window.

    Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the reply…unfortunately, that didn’t work. I should’ve mentioned that I’ve tried all the PAL settings in FCP, to no avail.

Same thing is still happening…I’m getting audio signal and timecode. Even with the video option checked in the clip settings panel of the log capture window checked, it still says “preview disabled”.

If you have any other suggestions, I’m all ears.

    Let me know,

    Ben

Might try trashing preferences… and then choosing the easy setup for DV PAL.. that deck isn’t common at all, and it may not work with FCP… I’ve never seen a sony deck that didn’t but…

You might also reset the PMU button on your motherboard. It’s near the batteries usually. it resets the power management to the FW bus and other things… must unplug power completely from your Mac first though.

Thanks, WSC2005! I’ll try it a bit later. Watch, I bet it works. This AFTER I had the PAL tape transferred to NTSC. Gotta love it!

    Thanks again!!
