Capturing off a DVD

How are you connected for the capture?

Many editors import the DVD files to the HD “directly” using “ripper” software.

Another way is to record the DVD to DV tape first, then capture the tape (which will have timecode and that can be very useful.)

Try using MPEG Streamclip for ripping. It has a function that will ask you if you want to fix timecode breaks and then will automatically do it for you. It works pretty well and it’s free. Just Google it or go to Apple’s web site to download it.
