    Hi!

My problem is that I’m not able to capture HD quality DV footage via firewire. My source camera is a Sony HDR-FX1. I’m using Final Cut Pro 2 on a MacBook.

When i’m connecting my camera with a firewire cable, FCP states that VCR is plugged in – but only, when i set the i-link conversion option on the FX1 to DV (which changes HD footage to normal DV quality during capture). when it’s set to HD and the original HD footage (i film in HD) should be captured, it says: VCR not connected.

i tried it on a different macbook but with the same camera using imovie, and hd capture worked fine.

ane ideas? thanks in advance. paul.

Did you use Final Cut’s ‘Easy Setup’ to change the settings to HDV? This will change all of Final Cut’s settings (including capture settings) to HDV mode.
