Capturing from video card
Hello,
I am creating a software video for a software company, but obviously can’t capture the CRT with a video camera.
Can I capture computer activity directly from the video card using Final Cut Pro on a G4? Using other packages available for this application are like trying to cut a diamond with a hammer and chisel.

You want to capture your screen with FCP? This is not possible, but this application works pretty well after you get it configured correctly.

Ugh! My humble apologize; We are working with so many variables, I asked the wrong question. let me try this again, though I will check out this link anyway for this project.
I am creating a video of software being written in the PC platform. We have software to capture from the card on PC, but when we export to .AVI and bring it into FCP, I can’t read the .AVI on my Mac.
Q. Do you know why my Mac won’t read the .AVI?

Q. Do you know of a (good) program that will capture from a PC video card and export to a format that is editable in FCP for Mac?

A ha. I understand now. You need to transcode your avi flies into quicktime files with whatever codec you are using, such as DV. FCP will then be able to read those files.
Another way is to lay off your avi files to tape and redigitze into FCP.
