capturing fro Canon xha1 with 25Mb/s
Hello every one. The tech specs of XHA1 tells that the camera provide 25Mb/s but, how to capture the bit rate to the FCP 6. I can’t really find the capture settings for 25 Mb/s. Even iMovie gives in automatic setting on it 7 in stead FCP just 3MB/s. Sorry for the primitive question. Thanks in advance.

3MB is about the same as 25Mb, bits and bytes. It’s a fixed data rate BTW. FCP captures what it is.

Thanks, Tom, but iMovie is capturing the footage twice better, than FCP. It depends from time to time, but some times it’s indicating 11Mb/s. Visually the picture looks more crisp and color. Now I even use iMovie for capturing, and after, the files transfer to the FCP project folder. iMovie uses Apple intermedia codec, but if I use it as a capture setting in FCP, FCP stops communicate with VTR. Hello everyone. I’m relatively new web designer, and just used i Web for my web construction. You can check my building if you hit http://www.a1video.us. But I would like to know if exist any way to find the workable counter to insert it to the pages. because that one from i WEB works just with apple servers, but my server is BLUE HOST.
I have one more question. Exist any method to find the direct link to the media files of my web to send them to my friends to download the files, avoiding JAVA, and any active windows. I’ll be very appreciative if give me hint how to. Thanks in advance -

As for capturing with the Canon XHA1, either you’re shooting SD (DV) or HDV, right? HDV is 3.1 MB/s, which is the beauty of it. You can choose to capture in a different codec (which is what you’re doing in imovie) but that’s not going to improve your picture in any way. In fact I think most would discourage you from capturing to AIC as it’s likely a downgrade (look it up). For editorial reasons, the preferred codec for HDV is ProRes. But you’re totally fine to just capture to HDV (especially if you have limited hard drive space) and maybe render with ProRes. That’s what I do. And by the way, I’ve got the same camera…
