I have a DV Cam project with 6 tapes. My Macbook Pro laptop has only one Firewire connection. How do I capture from a Firewire Camera and store the footage on an external hard disk at the same time?

Does your HD have 2 firewires? You could daisy chain the camera and HD. Or how about capturing to internal HD then transferring to ext HD.

Hi many thanks to the above posters – I know it was a real newbie question but I followed advice and daisy chained my sony z5 into FW drive which has two firewire ports – 400 and 800.I put it all togeter and it worked well.

Once again thanks very much to all who helped me out.
