September 28, 2006 at 5:06 amHi,
If you are capturing HD material, then all of the Blackmagic HDTV easy setups will configure your project so that it is captured in the anamorphic 16:9 aspect ratiio.
If you are capturing anamorphic standard definition material, use the Blackmagic NTSC or Blackmagic PAL easy setups to configure your project. Then right-click or Control-click on the Sequence. From the pop-up menu, select Item Properties>Item Properties. When the Item Properties window for your sequence appears, look down under the Format tab and you will see various categories including Anamorphic. Move your mouse to the right of the vertical divider line and click next to Anamorphic. A check mark should appear and this will set the sequence to anamorphic.
Any anamorphic clips that you capture will now be correctly displayed when dropped in to this sequence.

September 28, 2006 at 9:24 amWhich I already said. 😉
Vic:
By the way I use same hardware.
You can modify the blackmagic capture presets.
I did not write anything from Firewire.
It is only mouse-clicks in the Settings with
the option “anamorphic” – That is everything. If you already imported everything, then you
can mark the video-clips also subsequently in
the Browser as “anamorphic”.
Afterwards new sequence create with option
“anamorphic” and everything becomes good. 😉 -

September 29, 2006 at 1:14 pmThank you. I will try to re-capture the footage. One question though. I am capturing the footage from machine with SDI out into G5 with blackmagick HD. However the editing will be done either on powerbook (obviously no blackmagick hardware) or another, older G5, that also doesn’t have the blackmagic card installed. What sequence presets I should use, so the footage would not require rendering on these machines.
Thanks,
Vic

October 3, 2006 at 7:37 amHi Vic,
The choice will depend on the setup of your other machines. If they do not have fast drives attached. you would probably want to use a less demanding codec like DV using “Blackmagic NTSC – DV” as the easy setup.
You will still be able to play the clips even without the hardware. Just install the DeckLink drivers and choose the same easy setup.
