I am about to shoot a small feature using the new Canon Hdv Hi Def XL H1. This provides for four discreet audio inputs. I plan to have the mixer use radio lavs on, say, three actors and have a mono boom when necessary.

Can I capture 4 tracks of audio along with picture simultaneously via firewire into FCP5? Or do I have to do two passes of two audio tracks each.

    Responses greatly appreciated.

You can capture up to 8 channels of audio via Firewire so long as your device can feed it. Just turn on / off the audio tracks in the Log and Capture window.

    Mr Biscardi,

Thank you very much for your informed and useful reply to my post. I will investigate with Canon whether the XL H1 can output 4 tracks via firewire.

Best wishes and, again, thanks for your prompt reponse. I am up against a time thing here.
