Captured video not playing in Final Cut Pro
I’m capturing video from an HDW-1800 HDCam deck through the Kona Lhe into Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 in complete tape captures and am having problems playing back clips that were captured to the end of the tape where Final Cut has told me the tape has been captured successfully. I can look in the Finder and see the clip, I can see that it is many gigabytes large, and it can play back in the Finder, in Quicktime, and in Mpeg Streamclip (just to check), but when I play it in Final Cut Pro, I do not see any video and find that the timecode is 00:00:00:00. Can anybody help identify this problem and offer a solution?

You captured a tape in FCP, but can’t VIEW it in FCP?
What codec did you capture it as?

Apple ProRes 422 HQ 23.98 Psf. Again, tape captured to the end where timecode breaks off, but Final Cut says that the tape was captured successfully and it can play back in quicktime.

Hmmm… Delete the clip you have and drag the file from the drive into FCP…does that work?
OH! Trash your preferences too…just to be safe. That cures a lot of odd things.

Trashing the prefs worked. Why? I don’t know.

HOOT! Because when something that SHOULD would DOESN’T…then something must be corrupt. Commonly those are the prefs.
