    I captured a still image through Vegas from a video clip. It gave me a jpg file 1920×1080 that says it’s 26.66″ in width / 15″ high / with a resolution of 72.
    Is this good enough to use as a background image for a green screen?

    Yes. The DPI of 72 has no meaning in video. The 1920×1080 image will make a perfect HD background for green screen work.
