  • Captured footage jumps back to start in FCP 5.1

I have captured some HDV footage with FCP 5.1 and imported them into a project. There’s about five files, each about 12 to 15 min long.
The problem I have run into is the following:
When I view the footage in the viewer it works fine, untill 10 minutes into the movie when suddenly the image jumps back to the first frame and starts playing all over again. The sound, however, continues without any audible glitches or anything. This happens before anything has been done to the footage, just by viewing the rushes in the viewer window.
I checked the footage outside of FCP and it is fine. Image and sound stay sync untill the end.

I’ve been looking for similar problems on this forum, but perhaps I am entering the wrong key words, ’cause haven’t really found anything like it.
Anyone knows the reason for this?

    all the best

FCP sounds confused, try deleting you preferences and re-starting the program.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have tried this, but still the same problem. I imported the footage on another computer where everything was ok.
So it’s definitely the system, but I can’t figure out the reason for this.
I am working on an iMac G5 1.9 GHz with 512 RAM. Not a monster machine, but workflow has been ok in the past.
Having said that, I never had single shots in the rushes which were longer than 10min, so obviously that’s what the machine is having problems with.

    cheers
