  • Captured files have -a, instead of -av

I’ve noticed that sometimes when my files are interrupted in capture, they will have the suffix of -av. If a file finishes capturing normally, however, it removes that suffix and just gives it the name I type into the Capture settings at Log and Capture.

Recently, however, it started just putting -a at the end of the files, and not removing it, even if everything captured correctly. If I attempt to remove the -a from these files, or rename them in any way, they show up just as audio when I bring them into Final Cut. If I don’t touch them at all, they have the video, but if I attempt to modify them in any way, or move them, they just show as audio (even though they are massively sized files, and should have video in them).

I’ve looked at my Capture settings in all the places I can find, and it looks as though it should be capturing both audio and video. I don’t know why this suffix has started permanently appearing, especially as -a and not -av.

Does anyone know why this would be?

How is your drive formatted? It shouldn’t capture the way it is in the first place I don’t think.
