Capture setting for footage- 1080 24p shot on HDX900
Hello All,
First off i did a search and i found a few threads with similar questions but at the same time i didn’t find what i was looking for, i think i know what setting to use but i just want to get it right the first time. So, we’re about to start shooting on the panasonic HDX900. I just got the word from the DP that we’ll be shooting 1080 24p. I wanted to get a little bit ahead of the game and set my capture preset and sequence settings before we got started. So i set my capture preset DVCPRO HD 1080pA24, i just want to make sure this would be the proper preset for capturing, i see this makes 29.97fps. The ultimate goal of the project is to go to film so i ask, am i using the proper capture preset for this format or should i be using one of the other capture presets? I also set my easy set up to Panasonic DVCPRO HD for the Format, at a rate of 23.98 (but with that capture preset it’s 29.97, should i change the easy set up to 29.97 too and go with the DVCPRO HD- 1080i60?) and i set the codec to DVCPRO HD – 1080pA24. Sorry for the long ramblings but i just want to make sure i have everything correct for the editor when they come on and i want to know what the reasons are for choosing the settings because i’m trying to learn as much as possible to better myself in the field. Thank you in advance for your help.
