  • Capture Question: 1080i60 vs. 1080pA24

Posted by Elizabeth Czyzewski on March 10, 2008 at 7:04 am

I’m about to start capturing footage and I just wanted to check on the best capture setting to use. The DP sent me this information:

The footage was shot at 24p but recorded in camera as 1080i with 3:2
pulldown. I would advise removing the 3:2 pulldown prior to
cutting. You will then have 24p footage to work with. Format was
    Panasonic DVCPro HD.

I wasn’t sure if I should capture at 1080i60 and enable the “remove advanced pulldown” option (this was suggested by someone I mentioned this to) or capture at 1080pA24, which already has the “remove advanced pulldown” option enabled?

    Thanks.

I believe you want to capture it 60i and use the pulldown tool after the fact.

do a short test clip to confirm that, but thats how its usually done.
