    I’m trying to capture a DV tape that I shot on my Panasonic HVX, I’m fairly sure I shot the footage in DVC Pro at 50i (don’t ask me why!) When I try and capture I’m getting the same error message, which is;

    “Capture encountered a problem reading the daa on your source ape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved.”

    This message appears when I try ‘capture now’ if I try batch I get the same message and it tells me to set new in/out points.

    I’ve tried various capture settings including generic, but none of them seem to solve the problem.

    Is there anything I’m missing?

    Workflow: New project > scratch disk: set to external drive. Panasonic HVX connected to external via firewire

    System:
    Mac Pro 2.8g quad core
    RAM 4gb
    Hard drive internal 320gb 7200
    Hard drive internal 1Tb 7200
    Hard drive external 1Tb Seagate Freeagent
    Nvidia Geforce 8800 Graphics Card

    Can you do that on MiniDV tape or does that require DVCPro tape stock? I didn’t think you could record to DV50 on regular MiniDV tape.

    Does it work if you switch to the regular DV presets?

    Sorry I’m showing my ignorance here again, I thought that DVC Pro was just the way that the camera handles a normal mini DV tape. I then set the settings (I think) to 50i and the cam was set to DVC Pro so I assumed I was shooting on DVC Pro 50i.

    “Does it work if you switch to the regular DV presets?”

    I think I’ve tried them all, but will try again.

    thanks
