  • Capture problem: CanonHDV as ProRes over FW– AJA IoHD workaround??

Hi all. Running FCP 6.0.5 on MacPro 2.8GHz, with 1 drive as project /apps drive, and the other 3 internal drives raided to form RAID5 1.2 TB, which houses capture scratch.

Having problems trying to capture HDV tape shot on Canon XHG1 using the ‘capture-HDV-to-ProRres’ workflow. Last time I tried this I also had problems but solved it by trashing FCP prefs and restarting. Would prefer not to have to do this if possible.

I’ve often captured footage ‘live’ from the XHG1 direct to external drives via its HD-SDI jack, going into AJA IoHD. I tried to capture my HDV tape footage by playing the tape in the Canon and get signal out via HD-SDI, going into the AJA IoHD, and adjusting the capture settings in FCP to AJA Io, but no luck. Does anyone know if this is possible??

Since we got our Red cameras i haven’t been using the Canon’s for ages…apologies if I’ve overlooked something elementary.
