  • Capture Preview Problem on FCPHD 4.5

Posted by 1000dollarfilm on August 15, 2007 at 4:26 pm

    Hi,

I’ve been trying to capture some standard PAL DV using FCPhd 4.5, which the machine is set up for, but when I launch the “Log and Capture” window the video preview area is a flat grey.

This doesn’t prevent me capturing, the remote control of the device works perfectly and the footage is fine, but I can’t preview any of the footage prior to capture, which is a real pain.

Oddly enough the audio comes through fine on preview! But guessing in and out points based on the audio soon becomes tedious.

Anyone come across this before? And any ideas of how I can fix it?

I’ve gone through all my manuals and can’t find any reference to this problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Seems like FCP is freaking out on you.

Have you deleted your preferences? Restarted?

Thanks for that, but that hasn’t fixed it.

I’ve deleted the preferences from the Preference File in Library of the main hardrive and re-started.

    The problem is still there.

I’m not sure what else to say other than triple checking all of your settings on the deck and FCP.

Did you delete the files in User/Library/Preferences/FinalCutPro User Data/

    Aha! Yes, that got it.

Thanks Russ, I’d only deleted the general preferences in the main library, not the FCP data in the user library.

God only know what I did to cause the problem in the first place!

I can’t thank you enough for your time and patience.

    Cheers
