Trying to help a friend recapture his project. Capturing via firewire. The issue is the avid is not finding a good preroll point. There is no timecode breaks on the tape. It will search and get about 2 min away from the inpoint, then search for a min or 2 then go into fast forward and get a little closer. Search for a min or 2 then slowly get closer but never digitizes the clip. The pre roll setting can be as much as 6 seconds but does not help the avid 🙁

I was having other issues with the system like not being able to export a tab delimited list so I could try and capture in FCP. Tried to bring the seq into EDL manager, however it came back with an error “compressed audio formats not supported” even when there was NO AUDIO in the seq I was trying to bring in. Another error I got from EDLM was “domain copyout failed”

I have not been on an Avid in years however I seem to recall that there was a preference file that would get corrupt from time to time. However I am not sure how to find this file on a PC. Hoping I can trash that and be up and running. Any thoughts? Thanks
