Capture HDV as DVCproHD with Kona LH and firewire control

Im sorry David but I didnt read a question in your post.

If I do take the whole tape in without using log and capture and the media gets zapped how would I be able to batch it back and relink it to my sequences without having to start over again?? Are you saying thier is a way to do this? I would love to know how if you could point me in the right direction.

I used the method in the tutorial here on the cow ” Capture HDV to ProRes in FCP? Over FireWire?”

Erik,

If the Pro Res files captured via firewire go offline I’m certain you can simply recapture the clips and restore your project. If my system weren’t down right now I’d test that out, but I won’t be setup until Monday.

It seems that my lame graphics card was giving me all these problems. I installed a NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra today and now for whatever reason the camera now works with firewire and kona inputs for DVCPROHD log and capture. This is just plain weird. I had a X800 that died and had to put my old stock 9600 xt back in. the newish card came in today. I was getting dropped frames during playback if the camera was plugged in and on, so thats got to be related somehow. Anyway for now it looks like i’m back in bizz. Thanks for al the intrest in helping me out.

I tested this this morning and was not able to re-batch the clips I brought in as HDV to prores over firewire. I deleted the media from the capture scratch and opened FCP media missing warning came up. continued. Right clicked on clip and selected batch capture and the camera didn’t cue up to the clips timecode. It was ready to capture a new clip with a new name. This is what I worry about with this procedure. If anyone knows a workaround for this I sure would like to know it.
