Capture from XL2 into FCP 4.5
FCP does not recognize my XL2 as a deck in the capture mode. I have captured from it once before but now it does not read it. I can unplug the firewire from the XL2 and plug it straight into a sony camera and it reads fine. The DV selection in the cameras menu is switched to “on” but still nothing. I have been all over the camera settings and the manual and found nothing. Please help.

Try turning the “DV Control” menu setting on the camcorder to “OFF”.
To “wake-up” the FireWire connection to camera (or FW deck):
1. Turn your camera ON and set to the VCR mode.
2. Make sure the FW is connected.
3. Quit FCP.
4. Re-Open FCP.
