I’m running CS4 Premiere Pro on a MACPro, quad core, 2.8 Ghz, 4GB RAM, MAC OS X 10.5.8.
I have a sony HVR-A1U and want to capture footage. So far I have only been able to capture in mpeg, which makes editing cumbersome. When I select Quicktime as the Capture Format, Premiere Pro doesn’t allow me to capture. Any ideas how to capture in quicktime?

If I can only capture in MPEG, what should I use to covert to MOV? What settings do you recommend?

    Thanks!

HDV is mpeg. HDV on a Dell i7 flies natively.

I found that if I set the footage to 1080i on capture, the mpeg that comes in to the project is no longer cumbersome. I was previously capturing 1080p, not the setting of the camera.

How did you get the camera to capture at ALL? I can’t get any program to recognize the camera via the firewire hookup. I’m also on a mac and using CS4 Premiere Pro.
