I’m wondering if anyone has any other ideas for locating missing media.

I have an hour long video captured off of a Hi8 camera (So there is no timecode for easy recapturing), I edited the entire video yesterday
and today, the file that was captured is gone. Without a trace.

I captured using FCP 5.12 to an XRAID. I’ve searched all over, and it is just gone. I looked in the trash, and it’s not there, nor has the trash
been emptied in about a week.

I have not altered the scratch disks at all. The only thing I did with the computer was shut it down end of day yesterday, and turn it on today.
I opened earlier versions of the project from the autosave valut, and they all link to the same missing file.

Any help or ideas would be MUCH appreciated.

When you say you looked for it, do you mean you did a “find” in Finder?
Is the file referenced in the bin? Did you do a find for that exact file name,
selecting all available hard drives? Did you select “date Modified” in your drives?
If you did that and you can’t find it, it truly *is* gone (I think).

yeah, i searched all drives, even used terminal to access the drive and check that folder.

I ended up recapturing and fidgeting with the timing and sync to make it work.

But how it went missing remains a mystery.

Any possibility that i may have a *gasp* virus or trojan horse kinda thing? I know us Mac heads don’t fathom the thought usually..
But I feel that I should look into getting the drives scanned for anything suspicious.
