i need to capture video from dv and dvcam and send some files for another editor using FCP. i’m using vegas 8 pro – but rather than render everything into quicktime…
how can i just digitize my footage and send them the .mov files ?

i just bought quicktime pro..( windows ) and soon realized that isn’t the answer to my problem — no reverence to capturing dv at all in there.. just exporting ..

In QT Pro, look under the “File” menu for “New Movie Recording”. You can refer to the QT Pro help for more information.

Also, check your Vegas manual to see what your options would be if you wanted to use Vegas.

well i figured it out.. record video and audio mac..

    record audio windows only…

    a waste of 29 bucks!…

    Thanks for the reply Arnie…

You would think that ( after all of this time) Apple would get rid of the attitude so their professional products can integrate with others in the business…

looks like i’ll have to render it out from my time line unless there is another solution out there to capture quick time formats.

I guess it does not make life any easier for the FCP users either – from searching on the subject here and over on the vegas side I get the impression that FCP is hit and miss with AVI at best (not recommended) and I don’t want to deliver something that will just be a problem for them.

if anyone has dealt with both platforms and has a practical solution to get video from my computer to FCP, I’m all ears. ( the problem is– they have a computer but no feeder machine )…

    thanks again..
