capture device for my XH-A1s
I own a Canon XH-A1s and have been using it to capture footage to my hard drive. I’m thinking of buying a cheaper second camera to use for capturing and also using when I don’t need the bigger XH-A1s. I assume the Canon HV series works best.
Will the HV20 capture 24P source footage from the XH-A1s even though it doesn’t record it?
If not, what about the HV30 or HV40 or any other consumer camera.
There doesn’t seem to be much difference between the HV20-HV40 other then extra recording modes.

I don’t believe they will. I wish I could tell you with more certainty, but I can’t. To me the kicker is 24p. We have three XH-A1s, and recently, bought a deck. It as an investment, but is already proving to be invaluable. Originally we bought a couple used prosumer camcorders that we used for capturing, and we also used them for blogging and any EPK footage we needed.
