Capture Confusion
I have some tapes shot on the new Sony HDV camera, shot HD in 16:9, 25p PAL. I am capturing it at dv resolution. I am having a hard time with getting this footage logged at the 16:9 aspect ratio. I see some settings for NTSC that go to 16:9, but not for PAL. I tried setting it to anamorphic, but it was stretched out. Any suggestions?

After you capture the anamorphic footage, scroll to the right in the browser and under the ANAMORPHIC column, check each clip.
BOOM. They will go to the proper aspect ratio…

Maybe I’m not clear here. The footage is not anamorphic. The sony HD captures shoots 16:9 normally. If I want to be able to capture the 25p PAL footage at 16:9, what must I do? I am getting either a stretched out anamorphic look, and if I check the box, then I get a 4:3 frame that clips footage off both the left and right side.
