Capture analog Hi-8 using Sony DCR TRV480
I am having trouble capturing my old analog Hi-8 tapes using Sony DCR TRV480 and Final Cut Express. Using the standard DV-NTSC setting and Capture Now I get a message “Waiting for Timecode”. Does anyone have suggestion for the proper Easy Setup setting for optimum capture?

Try “DV-NTSC DV Converter” under Easy Setup. That’s what “converter” means – it converts any analog format (U-matic, Beta, Hi-8, etc.) into digital format en route to FCE. This is the ONLY choice for any incoming analog video.
