  • Can’t transfer takes from “Log and Transfer” to “Browser”

Posted by Cal Gordon on November 21, 2008 at 2:12 am

Although I can view several files (or takes) in the “log and transfer” window, I CANNOT transfer them into the “browser” window. This only happens with certain files (or takes).

The way I’ve been editing is to transfer the files (or takes) from the “log and transfer” window into the “browser” window. Is there another way? Other solutions to this tech glitch?

I’ve tried searching through the Help manual of FCP, but there’s no section on “log and transfer” just “log and capture.” And it doesn’t mention anything of the sort.

    Please help.
    Thank you,
    Cal

When I use Log and Transfer, it’s like this:
You open Log and Transfer. You add a P2 folder in Log and Transfer. This puts a list of clips from the folder in the top left pane of the L&T window. You may view clips, log, and add notations on the right side of the window.

You then select the clips that you wish to transfer and you click on the “Add Selection to Queue” button. The clips are now transferred to your scratch disk in a batch. Then you close the Log and Transfer window. Voila. The new clips now appear in your current Logging Bin. Save the project.

Spanned clips require both folders containing them to be loaded at the same time in order to properly transfer.

I’ve tried adding all spanned clips to the Queue and imported them together but it didn’t work. I’ve tried transferring entire folders containing these clips (by adding them to the queue) but no go, either.

Some of the clips I’m trying to transfer are not spanned at all, but still they won’t transfer over. I’m really baffled by this. I’m almost half-way through my edit but can’t finish it because of this problem. I’m stuck. Please help!

    Thanks!!
