August 1, 2012 at 8:26 amHi, I can’t see any images or videos. They’re there, and flash up really quickly every so often if I change the zoom etc but then it is gone again

That might be pointing to something outside of AE. Maybe graphics card or something. Can you give your machine specs?

August 1, 2012 at 7:00 pmHi Reiner,
I’ll be honest I know nothing computer related really, I have a Dell studio laptop that’s 2-3 years old. I don’t know it’s specs, but I save most things to external hard drive so it should have quite a bit free space. It handles things like premiere pro no trouble at all?

October 11, 2012 at 4:27 amHey there,
I know it’s been a few months, but I’m having the exact same problem. Did you ever figure out a solution?

October 11, 2012 at 8:55 amHello Jessica,
no I didn’t i’m afraid, I installed it on a friends laptop though and it worked perfectly.
I tried everything, and despite premiere pro and photoshop etc working perfectly on my laptop, after effects just wouldn’t work, so I assume I don’t have enough RAM, I only have 3GB, and I have plenty of memory. I am guessing it’s down to my laptop not being able to handle it though 🙂

October 12, 2012 at 2:49 amThank you for the quick response. I was really hoping you had a magic cure!
I talked to Adobe today for over an hour and they confirmed that my RAM, graphics card, etc., are more than adequate. They only issue they could think of is that I’m running Windows Vista. I’m going to try upgrading to Windows 7 and see if that helps. I’ll be sure to let you know either way.
Thanks again!

October 17, 2012 at 11:53 pmHi Jessica & Dale
I stumbled upon your dilemma after a long search while trying to figure this same problem out that I too was experiencing on my Windows Vista 64 PC…eventually after a lot of unistalling and re-installing a tried updating my gpu (graphics card) driver and it was then that I got my comp window in after effects to work! Hope this helps;) -
