I am experiencing a bizarre problem and am not sure if its an FCP problem or a mac issue. Working on an dual g5 and running studio 2. While editing I keep losing output to my ntsc monitor and refresh av devices frequently. What worse is I cannot output to tape. I get periodic pixelation and pops in the audio. Even more bizarre is that unless my deck (Sony DSR 30)is on, my external drives won’t mount. If it does mount with the deck off, eventually the drives disappears with a device removal error. The weirdness is when shutting down the mac somehow its looking for the deck, is slow to shutdown if the deck is off. Turn the deck on and it’s lights out. How goofy is this? The machine edits fine, don’t have any other problems. This just sort of started happening. My guess is it’s a firewire thing but someone out there may have had or heard something similar?
