  • Can’t play Audio…plz help

This may sound dumb, but i have to ask it. whenever I import a file (.AVI) in AE CS3, and I drag to timeline and hit Spacebar, I dont hear the Audio. I can only hear the Audio when I ram preview the Audio hitting (shift+.). Is that normal? or do I have to check or uncheck a box somewhere?
    Thanks for your help.

AE doesn’t work like an NLE — hitting the spacebar won’t play audio. You need to make a RAM preview or hit . on the numeric panel to hear audio. Check the help.

Yes, that’s normal. Spacebar play just plays video.

From the “Preview video and audio” section of After Effects CS3 Help:

“Standard preview (commonly called spacebar play) plays video in the active Composition, Layer, or Footage panel from the current time.

RAM preview allocates RAM to play video and audio in the Timeline, Layer, or Footage panel in real time.”
