Can’t Open FCP 4.5 Project in version 5!! Keeps telling me “Out of Memory” when I try to access the timeline. Also, can’t open up any of the attached media in fcp5.
    Is there a quick fix??

Here’s what I know: It should work flawlessly. I had absolutely no issues opening any of my 4.0 or 4.5 projects into 5.0.

Try supplying some additional information about the media.

[Max Marini] “Keeps telling me “Out of Memory” when I try to access the timeline.”

If you are at the point of accessing the timeline you would already have a project open, no? Are you sure it wont open the project or is it that it wont open a sequence within your project?

I guess it won’t open the sequence within the project. It gives the message: Error – Out Of Memory.
It also won’t open any of the clips in the project.
This was a project initially created in FCP Express and then upgraded to FCP 4.5. Is it possible you can only upgrade once??

Media was originally worked on in FCP Express2 and the upgraded to FCP 4.5. Is it possible you can only upgrade the project once?

What I would do is launch the project in FCP 4.5.

    Now create a New Project.

Now move all the bins and sequences from the original project to the new one.

Save the New Project with an appended name, like Project REV 1.

Open a Sequence and ensure that it plays correctly.

    Quit FCP 4.5

Now try to open the Revised project in FCP 5.
