Thanks for your help! I already had checked that out. I think I found the culprit: an startup program was messing with the keyboard… I had to disable all of them one by one…

Help! I am new to Sony Vegas Movie 8.0 .I have to put together a slideshow for my students for an end of the year awards ceremony. I have put the pictures in and created the show. However, it is to long. How can I reduce the time frame of each slide from 5 seconds to 3 seconds? I know you can do each one individually, but I have over 180 slides. Is there a setting to make them all 3 seconds long, without changing each one? Please respond ASAP!

David, first of all, it’s considered bad posting etiquette to come in on someone else’s thread. You’ll do much better by starting your own.

Having said that, I do this all the time and the solution is quite easy.
Click the first image to select it, go to the last image, Shift+click it and press the G key to Group everything together.
Place the cursor at the end of the very last image, hold down the Ctrl key (you’ll see the symbol change from a rectangle to a rectangle with a ~ underneath it).
Hold the Ctrl button down and drag the entire sequence backwards to the desired length.

For future reference, the length of your still images can be adjusted by going Options – Prefs -Editing and changing the time in the New still image length (seconds): box.
Note that this is only for new additions, not what you already have on your timeline.
