I have AXP latest version, quad-core mac, and I cannot capture footage shot in HDV. I always get a warning that says “Exception: Video signal present but not captured.”

I have had NOTHING but trouble with AXP but I am stuck with it until budgetary room opens up after June 1.

Are you running the correct OS? Quicktime? What deck are you using?

I should point out that the video appears in my composer window as it should. I can mark in and out points in my capture tool just like any other tape. I can fast forward rewind and watch he HDV video on my monitor just fine. But when I try to capture I get the same error message every time.

Check your system specs according to the matrix from Avid. You say you are using QT 7.3.1, but that’s not qualified even for the latest version (5.8.3). Belive me, even a X.X.1 release of Qucktime can cause problems. Make sure you are running the correct OS as well.

I have been all over Apple’s website. I have found 6.5.2, 6.5.3, 7.1.6, 7.2, and then it jumps to 7.3.1–which is what I have. Is there someplace I haven’t found yet that has 7.3 available for download?

    um…..no.

I go to that link, click “download” and get this:

The page you tried was not found. You may have used an outdated link or may have typed the address (URL) incorrectly. You might find what you’re looking for in one of these areas:

Underneath that is another “download quicktime” link, and when you hit that it takes you to the QT 7.4.5 download page.

Okay, I found QT 7.3 here:

    https://community.avid.com/forums/t/44210.aspx

I used Pacifist to remove 7.3.1 and replaced with 7.3. I now have the EXACT version of QT installed required by avid. I restarted my mac, opened my project, opened my capture tool loaded the HDV tape and attempted to capture a clip.

OK, lets start with the basics: What OS are you running? What video card? Have you been able to digitize anything?

I’ve had this system since September and it has captured DVcam–although not as smoothly as my old Meridian system.

I’m using OS 10.4.11, QT 7.0, card is a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. Project setting is set to 1080i/59.95 HDV….according to the Manual everything is set the way it should be. Like I said I have deck control, I can see the video just fine in my composer window. It seems to be doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing–until I ask it to capture.
