  • Can’t import H.264 from Panasonic AF-100 into FCE

    Hello,

I am a shooter editor posting this for a client of mine who is editing footage I shot for him.

He is using FCE to edit the raw footage from the Panasonic AF-100 (which I believe is uncompressed H.264) and is having difficulty getting it into a workable format.

All of the original file structure from the SD card is in-tact. This is what he’s running into (quoted from emails):

“[using] ‘Log and transfer,’ when I try to drag and drop the clips into the window, I get the following error message.

‘00001.MTS” contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.’

I was able to get the files to appear in the ‘log and transfer’ window in FCE 4, and the encoding begins, but then it craps out. I’m not sure why”

Any help would be much appreciated, guys.

    Thank you.

    Evan (moooo)

You can try downloading the PANASONIC QT AVCCAM Component, %DtoRGB or ClipWrap, to open the MTS files, then transcode them to Prores.

Good software suggestions from Rafael however just a small point, Final Cut Express does not support ProRes so you would have to go to something like the Apple Intermediate Codec instead.

    best wishes
