Can’t import a large file into Resolve Studio 20
So right off the bat, I hate working with proxies unless I’ll add lots of graphics, so please don’t suggest that route first.
Alright, so after spending a few days playing with codecs to find the optimal size-to-quality ratio, I’m satisfied with my .mkv VBTQ that allowed me to record 5 hours and 40 minutes of crisp 1440p/60fps gameplay with a file size of 110 GB.
But now I can’t import it into Resolve; Initially, the file was on a separate drive, so I copied it to the main OS/Apps drive because I understand editing software works on a “copy”, and I assumed that was the caveat, hence two different drives with the cache load and all of such a large file..
But no, it simply won’t load the file in, even when using the in-app media storage browser, the file doesn’t show, and it’s breaking my heart.

Hey Sibel,
It sounds like you have done everything right, and taken great care to do so.
Like you, I hate proxies if they can be avoided. But most of my work is on the master, rather than the off-line, so I rarely have that problem.
Out of interest, have you tried to import the MKV file into Davinci Studio v19?
I found this recent article, that may just give you the solution.
https://beginnersapproach.com/davinci-resolve-mkv/Basic one, which I often used back in the day, is to check what happens if you rename the file format to MP4 or similar?
Just a word of caution, as this may cause trouble later + at over 5 hours of recording, there is every chance that your timecode will slip.Atb

Apologies for my late reply.
I used OBS’s remux feature (located under File -> Remux recordings), which worked well. Managed to FF at x4 with no hiccups (but I noticed some at 8x, but hey, with the file I’ve got, I’m not complaining!), which I was worried about with the .mp4, being a compressed format.
And I just tried your advice regarding version 19, sadly, it didn’t work either.
