  • Can’t hear playback from the Timeline through my mixing board, or see on External Monitor

    Dear Cow,

I was trying to input a voiceover over the weekend and believe one of my settings was changed that disabled the connection between my FCP timeline and the mixing board and monitor. When I playback in the timeline, the audio is routed to the G5 speakers and the video only plays in the Canvas.

When I output to DVD I am able to hear the audio through the mixing board and view it on the monitor, but when it is in the timeline it reverts back to the G5.

I have tried switching to other easy setups, shutting down the entire syssem several times and bringing it back up. I’m almost positive it’s not a hardware problem, and think it’s one of my system settings, but can’t figure out which one.

    Please help me Creative Cow!

    Final cut menu bar:

View > Video Playback > Apple Firewire PAL or NTSC
(make sure that one is checked and not any of the “Digital cinema desktop preview” options.

If it still doesn’t work: try hitting “alt+F12” or go to View > Refresh A/V devices

    Dag,

Thanks for the ideas on this. I tried with no luck.
