    Hi

Can’t seem to get my canvas to play in Digital Cinema Desktop Preview – Full Screen, or RAW or Main or regular….firstly what are the differences in these and how can I get them to display…nothing happens when I select either of them.

I’ve got a MAC PRO 3.0, using latest FCP 6.0.5, editing in a Apple Pro Res HQ seq, HDV footage, 23″ apple and a DELL 24″ display…can’t get any of the VIEW options to work…solution?

    Thanks

Once the view option you want is selected, then press command(apple)f12. This should tell FCP to send out to external display.

    Thanks very much, you’re right

Now what is the difference between Main, Full Screen and the other two options?

    Thanks

Raw and preview are the closest to a 4:3 aspect ratio. I would suggest using either raw or preview. Main is blown up to fit on whatever size display you have. Not the best quality.

Sorry I was wrong about that. Raw and preview displays 720×420. That is the resolution of Standard Def video. If i was HD footage raw and preview would display whatever the resolution of your sequence or source footage is.

    Hi,
I’m wondering if I can program a function key on my iMac to set it up to do a Full Screen Preview.
I’m not using the F5 and F6 keys at all, and tried to program one of them, but it didn’t work.

I’m running Final Cut 5.1 and now the only way I can get full screen view is to do the complex
sequence of View: Video Playback Digital Cinema Desktop Preview Main

    Many Thanks!!!!
