  • Can’t Get the Settings Right So I Don’t Have to Render

    Hi,

I transferred files from the director’s hard drive to my hard drive. I’m not positive how the footage was captured, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t done with Final Cut Pro. I have a folder full of file type “DV Movie”(s). They are not quicktime movies. When I imported them into Final Cut Pro there was no clip data like media start and media end points. Anyway, the question is: What are the proper sequence settings so I don’t have to render everything? Is this even possible with this sort of file type? The footage was shot in 24p and is 16:9. That’s pretty much all of the info I have. Help please…

How could WE know, it YOU don’t know how it was captured.

There may not BE a correct setting for this, but you can just keep trying different ones.

    Jason,

Open one of these movies with QT player.

in the get movie info dialog box you will see the file size, data rae, compressor and other vital data on the files.

When you have established the file type then maybe you can create a sequence setting to match that in FCP.

More info needed here for sure, before anyone can really help you.

It sounds like this is coming from imovie, not fcp.

    Peace and Love 🙂
