Can’t get my movie off my hard drive

I got that 50 error also with the last project I did.

It’s strange, I have done maybe 5 projects and had never got it before. I would use my compressor settings and then post it to vimeo.

The last project was a bigger file so maybe that was it. I don’t know.

How I got around it was I shared it out of X as current then I opened it in QT 7 pro and exported out again as a smaller file then posted.

I don’t know why it’s doing that but I hope this helps.

Many thanks, Tony. I’m not sure what this means: “I shared it out of X as current.” Please explain. BTW, I’ve been getting the QuickTime error -50 over and over lately, with big projects and much smaller ones alike. It’s enough to put one off FCPX.

I went to Share menu and then export media, and then I left the codec settings as current.

That put the file on my desktop but it was too big to up load to the net (870mb).

I opened the file in QT pro 7 and then exported again as a smaller file (228mb).

Then I uploaded that.

If I’m understanding you right you have the project in X and want to get it to the net right?

I hear you with the frustration. You just want stuff to work like it should. Then it’s hard to get help because it’s so new. I’m sure someone knows better than me but I didn’t see a post so…..

Is it possible you are on a FAT32 drive and the file that is written is larger than 4GB?

When you share to Vimeo or youtube you can adjust the size/quality. FCPX will write a file to the “Shared Movies” directory within your project.

For me all these shares have always worked as advertised.
