  • Can’t get a cap fillet for the edges of a mograph text extruded with an Effector Shader

Hi, I have a text object created with MoGraph which I extruded with a Shader Effector and then made it bounce with a Spring Effector. It’s a pretty fast way to get the text extruding effect that is explained in this tutorial: https://jorgelega.com/tutorials_delay.html
The problem is I want to add a fillet to the edges of the text to make it look better but the Caps option in the Text Object is rendered useless after the Shader Effector comes into work with the extrusion, cause it also stretches the fillet. Does anyone know any way I could add a fillet to the edges?? (without having to do the whole thing again please haha)

    Thank you!

You could do it with a MoGraph Xpresso node, tying the sound effector directly to the extrusion depth.

First I should have said this from the start, I’m pretty new using Cinema so I apologize in advance if I’m a bit “slow” on these things.
Now, about your suggestion… I’m not exactly sure what you mean since the extrusion depth in this case is already achieved by the transform parameters of the Shader Effector I used (check the link I posted), how could I apply another effector specifically to a parameter of the 1st effector and how would that make it respect the Caps property of the text object?

What I’m saying is that you can’t use the scale parameter of the shader effector if you want to preserve the shape of the fillets — for the reason you’ve already discovered.

What you have to do is affect the text’s depth parameter without scaling the whole object. The only way I know of to do that (short of animating by hand) is to use an Xpresso expression. This is easy enough to do if you want to control the depth of all the letters simultaneously. Otherwise … not so much, since the text object’s depth parameter is applied globally to all the letters.
