Cant find files

Most likely your ext. hard drive has a different drive letter now. The file location is how vegas finds project files. There is an option for it to search for missing file, as well as using a specific file location. either way, once it finds one, it will tell you it also sees other files for that project and allows you it re-link them all. Just save and the new paths will be saves as well.

Nope that isn’t it as I have the same hard drive for a number of days. In fact sony lists the saved files on that drive but still cant find it. also give a try at this. When I paid 129 for this program I thought I was getting a program to make movies on. But when I finish I seem to have to load up Sony DVD architect to complete the movie but architectr is more complicated than sony vegas 9. Cant I just complete a movie and burn it to a dvd without going through sony architect?
Your’d think there would be a forum for architect I am reading “show me how”

I gather you bought Sony Movie Studio and not Pro 10. There’s a way to burn from Vegas to DVD with pro. Search your help file for it.
If your version doesn’t have that feature, you would have to have some sort of DVD burning software like Nero or Roxio. Most new computers that come with a DVD burner comes with some software for making DVDs. I haven’t made a vidoe DVD in a long time. There are so many other ways to obtain and watch video in my opinion.

If you are using Movie Studio HD 10 you an use Tools | Burn Disc | DVD… to burn a DVD from the Movie Studio timeline.

Yep, I bought this sony vegas for 129 and thought I could just take some of my ancient movies and or pictures and make movies for the kids. No way. when finished to make a movie I have to send it to sony architect. Architect is more complicated than sony vegas. Of course I can upload to youtube but that is not a dvd. I don’t think Nero Roxio (I hate Roxio ) nor the free dvd burners will burn vegas 9 saves. I saw somewhere in previous jobs on another computer with a different vegas nine that crashed I could save the results in almost any kind of file out there. On this computer so far I haven’t seen that capability but I will have to check more completely. But with this program I have to send it to architect to burn a DVD. That’s ok when I learn how. But I will have to learn how to use it. So far any I have burned needs improving, problems like titles, text etc (which I thought I’d done in vegas. But I did burn DVD’s Life’s too short for this crap!:-)

Nope. It can just burn a CD not DVD. Also in movie making it only saves it in .vf. It might save slideshows differently.

Or upgrade to Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0. It sounds like you are using an older version.

Save will only save your project file with your edit decisions. It does not make a movie. You must “render” to make a movie. Try pressing the Make Movie button.
