May 9, 2011 at 12:08 amI decided to look at the box and see where I got all these ideas of Vegas 9 capabilities. Right on the box it says it is the propack. It says it will produce DVD’s with custom menus and graphics. Drag and drop DVD authoring. It will produce professional movies. Another place it says it will do DVD authoring. I could scan this but it’s there I can assure you. The selling point is ti makes DVD’s in the ordinary meaning.
I rendered movies in mpeg1 and mpeg2 which would not play on two of my DVD players. Just on my computer. On the box it said nothing about having to use sony architect to do this so I think I must be missing something. Architect is ok but it has a lot of stuff I don’t need after finishing with vegas 9.
Have a nice day. Thankis for your help. We are almost there!
Hope to see you

Yes it does. And “in the box” is DVD Architect Studio which is the DVD authoring software that you refuse to use! So the “box” is correct. What’s in the box is software to author DVD’s. It’s called DVD Architect Studio.

What you are missing is that there are two pieces of software in the box. Vegas Movie Studio for editing your movies and DVD Architect Studio for authoring DVD’s.
If you want to make a DVD with Vegas Movie Studio 9 you MUST use DVD Architect Studio. If you want to make a DVD directly from the “timeline” then you MUST upgrade to Vegas Movie Studio HD 10.

May 9, 2011 at 12:41 amWell if that is what it is then that is what it is. . On the box it says Sony (Standard Oil of NY) Vegas Studio 9 will drag and drop DVD authoring. Does Architect drag and drop from a timeline? Does Architect do time line editing? I’m going to go to Architect and finish there (again)as I have no other choice. I paid top dollar for this program actually 129 not 120 and expected it to have everything I needed in the Sony (Standard Oil of NY) Vegas Studio 9 program.
But I call Sony (Standard Oil of NY) hiding behind fine print to make a buck. When I bought Sony (Standard Oil of NY) Vegas Studio 9 it was the latest out. I don’t think Sony (Standard Oil of NY) is giving upgrades away so Architect here I come.
thanks a bunch

Let me try and help you understand the workflow.
You do all of your editing in Vegas Movie Studio. Then you press the Make Movie button and Movie Studio renders your project in a format that is ready for DVD authoring and then it starts DVD Architect.
In DVD Architect you can add menus and titles are chapters and everything that a Hollywood DVD has. You are not editing anymore. You are “authoring” the DVD. Alternately, you can just choose to burn a single movie to DVD without any menus at all. All of that is done with DVD Architect.
Just to be clear… there is NO DUPLICATION OF ANY WORK! The work you do in DVD Architect it totally different that what you did in Movie Studio. Everything you did in Movie Studio is preserved. So Sony’s claims are true. They give you everything you need to edit movies and author DVD’s.

May 9, 2011 at 2:48 pmOK, I went back to “show me how” and I think with your help and redoing the Show me how I can make a movie from something I did in Vegas. If I can find it. I still however have to solve how to name it and not leave it as “Untitled”

I thought it took on the name of your project when you save it. Is your project saved as “untitled”?
