can’t export to HDV tape windows 7
I have Vegas Pro 9 set up on Windows 7. I can’t export to hdy tape on my sony HC3. HDV vid cap from camera works fine. On export Controller controls camera but all I get is blue screen. Also the time the controller has the camera record is much longer than the sample which should be exported.
SD works fine but HDV does not. I have camera set on HD with no convert on Ilink. screen shows HDVin for Ilink. The same problem occurs with Premiere CS3. Here’s the interesting thing. Premiere CS3 running on Vista works fine. All the same settings for camera and sw.
I can’t seem to install Vegas 9 on my Vista system so was hoping to get Windows 7 working.
I’m thinking it must be something in the IEEE driver. Has anyone had similar problems in Windowws 7? -

Have had the same experience with both vegas pro8 & pro9.
Pinnacle Avid 7.2 also behaves in the same way. SD works perfectlty but HDV cannot be written back to tape.
My Vegas progammes are 30 day trials as I am looking for an alternative to Avid 7.2 which will not be supported in W7.My pc is dual booted (separate drives) with XP Pro & Windows 7 (RC7100).
Both Avid 7.2 and Vegas work OK with XP so the likely problem is the MS driver provided in Win7.
Hoping this is corrected in final release.

I found this on a Windows 7 forum. It solved the problem for me and many others.
•Go to Device Manager and click on IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers
•Click on the device listed underneath this heading. In my case it was NEC 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller
•Right click this device and select ‘update driver software’ from the shortcut menu
•Then select the option ‘browse my computer for driver software’
•Then select the option ‘let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’
•This then gave me three drivers to pick from (make sure the’show compatible hardware’ checkbox is ticked
•Select the driver named ‘1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)’
•Install driver.My 30 day trial of Vegas has now run out but changing to the ‘legacy’ driver allowed me to write back to tape. The origonal non legacy driver was fine for capture which caused me to think it was a W7 problem. The driver showed up as ‘1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller’ and it did not look for another until finding info here.
