Can’t export comp with 600×600 px
Posted by Colleen Kuczynski on April 16, 2018 at 12:00 pmHello,
I am been having trouble exporting a video I made in After Effects. The only thing that I did differently from other videos was make it 600 x 600 px instead of my usual 1920 x 1080 px. The comp settings I used are below:
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

April 16, 2018 at 1:46 pmSo, I have tried to export it in both the render queue and the Media encoder and both times it starts to export and it looks like its doing it, but it finishes really fast and I only end up with like a second of an outputed file and its just black…

April 16, 2018 at 2:56 pmRender to ProRes (any type you fancy) then use AME.
I have to do some weird sizes for digital signage and this usually avoids the legal stuff.
Now if you have to supply with an odd format e.g. AVI, WMV, etc… I suggest using AME on PC. -

April 16, 2018 at 5:59 pmEric, I don’t see an option for ProRes…I am working on a PC…does that matter?

April 16, 2018 at 6:14 pmcan you export to any other format? Because this may have nothing to do with your output dimensions.

April 16, 2018 at 8:20 pmNo you can’t output a prores on a PC without a third party plug in (assuming the third party hasn’t been sued by Apple yet and shut down)

April 17, 2018 at 2:48 amHere’s one that works quite well. It’s just a GUI that takes the pain out of using command line syntax of FFmpeg.
https://aescripts.com/aempeg/I mainly use it for clients that insist on ProRez files.
To be honest though, I don’t think that’s the issue with not being able to render out to a relatively small comp unless the output type chosen is somehow aspect chauvinistic. Frankly, I’d just render out to a lossless sequence then convert.

April 17, 2018 at 3:33 pmSo, I was able to export with 600×600 px eventually…I just started a new project. I think it may have had something to do with me usign 3-d layers because I took them out of this current project and it works fine…not really sure? But, my problem is fixed for now. Thanks!
