  • Can’t Export a self contained QT Movie to External Drive

I have been trying to export from the timeline a self contained 720 30 FCP QT to an external G-Tech hard drive and about half way through the process it stops and crashes FCP. I can export to my internal drive, but want to use the external drive to take to duplication house and to keep the internal drive clean for other uses. I have exported hundreds of QTs to this drive in the past so this is a new occurrence. The drive is several years old so I guess it could be going, but I can transfer files from other drives to this drive, just not export from FCP.

    Thanks in advance.

Well an obvious workaround would be to first export to your desktop and then MOVE that file to your external drive. The real question is why is Final Cut Pro crashing…just based on logic it seems like the issue involves this particular project since you didn’t mention that it has started to happen on every project you directly export off the timeline.

Does the project always FCP at the same point?

    Just basic stuff I know.

What is the drive formatted as? FAT32 format only accepts limited file sizes (4GB).
